QUESTION – Thank you for taking the time to participate in the Q & A session. Before we start in detail. Would you like to share with everyone who may not know, who you are, what you do, where you live and what trade room (if any) and where you can be found everyday.

MICHELLE : No worries and my pleasure.  Hello everyone! My name is Michelle. I live in Montreal Canada. I am the mother of a beautiful special needs son, the angel and love of my life.  I’m a Flight attendant and a dressage rider. As of now, you can find me in the warrior trading chat room and also showed up in the Trades Ideas’s free chat room at  .

QUESTION – As a relatively brand new trader, what motivated you to get into trading and why?   Also, what are your trading goals. Where would you like to be as a part time or full time trader in 5 to 10 years?

MICHELLE : You will love this….. Here goes.. So, I’m very  new to trading. I don’t have anyone in my family or surroundings trading stocks or know anything on the subject. Somehow, I always had this  in me. I always wanted to learn how to trade. As it turns out, when you want something very clearly, life presents it to you, if you are open to receiving  the guidance.

Little fun story here: I’m operating a flight and on my break, I decide to go up to the flight deck as I have a great relationship  with the captain and I haven’t seen him for a little while. I go up front and the first officer is new to me, never met him. We get introduced and we clicked.  We chit chat the three of us. They start to jokingly  bug  me for  this comment I made about this new pilot that joined the company and that has the same name as me…anyways…conversations and laughter later, we start talking about our families and loved ones. The first officer talks lovingly about his wife and he tells me she is a day trader. My thoughts were; Humm what is that? what does a day trader do? I’m intrigued  but don’t want to ask too many questions so I don’t look clueless on the subject(which I was). The flight ends and I never cross paths with either of these pilots. I did not remember the first officer’s name even if I wanted to.

Weeks passed by, that specific week I was thinking about trading so much…but  I was stuck between fear, doubt, and how & where to start? After a flight, I land in Toronto for a night stay there. As I walk in the hotel shuttle, there was three of our crews. Yup! Guess who was on the shuttle?  That pilot!! I could NOT believe it! What were the chances? That was just CRAZY!! I knew life was guiding me and giving me signs right now and then.

The idea of being able to provide for my family by doing something I LOVE so much, being able to build a network of successful and like minded individuals , investing in a skill that is my own, that  is really appealing to me. It just all resonates deeply. Of course, my why is my son.
My trading goals are to never stop growing, learning and improving my skill sets. To be as successful as I set my mind to be. To give to others, to help others.
In 5 years I want to be trading full time. Have an expanded network. To be very successful, to have freedom spend time with my family traveling. To help people as much as I can along the way.
In 10 years, I want to be trading and also have grown my portfolio. Enjoy life, travel with my family. Give back in big ways.

QUESTION – What failure or setback in life have you experienced that has set you up for latter success?

MICHELLE : You know that is an interesting question. I have had a lot  of real struggles and challenges in my life that is for sure. I would like to focus with this answer, on the positive aspect of it. Some of my biggest life challenges has given me emotional  maturity beyond my years and probably my EQ is expanded, that is also a blessing.

My setbacks are only created by my own mind. I would say that the most self inflicting one for me is the doubt I always have towards myself. Even if I have a natural talent for something (example  to being a solid, talented dressage rider) I will always doubt that I’m good enough. Oh my! my dressage coach could really tell you how make her crazy! (She has coached my from my very  beginning,  not in riding but in dressage and now around 15 years).  Even if I doubt myself, I push hard and give it my all because I am working on erasing those doubt that I have. Easier said than done.  To counter interact    I  really give my 10000000%. If I like something and If you tell me i’m good at it, I will NEVER give up. I will work even harder for it.

I can tell you I have found this in trading. I LOVE it and I work really hard. I have never worked so hard for anything. I was so lost at first, but I’m finding my way. I just love, love trading. Oh and if you don’t have the right tools (partners, mentors, surroundings) it might take you longer to get to your goals.

I can finish by saying,  I’m not sure if this answer even makes sense but I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life, trading is where I feel at home.

QUESTION – Outside of trading, what strange or unusual habit do you have?

MICHELLE : I like to make an intentions letter on the new moon. I mediate on the new moon and the full moon. I have crystals by my trading station and I sage the house every few days. I try to meditate on a regular basis.

QUESTION- How would you describe your trading style? How has it evolved over time? Who and where are you learning from?

MICHELLE: Humm still trying to define my style…At the moment I’m quite successful at scalping both bearish and bullish. I look at trends and make up my mind from there. For clear set ups, I like to get in and scale out, take profits along the way for examples on bull flags.  I let the volume ( I can hear Jane’s voice here) dictate the direction of the market. I start to have a feel for the market  sentiment now. I know I will change styles most likely but i’m evolving  as a trader everyday. I learn, I evolve and I think if you can adapt, you have an edge in trading and in life in general.

QUESTION : What was your childhood dream to become as an adult?

MICHELLE : HA !HA!  I had a few… A teacher. A little older, a psychologist   but truly  all I really wanted was to be a big star like my idol Whitney Houston.  HA! HA!

QUESTION – What advice would you give your younger self ?

MICHELLE : Quite simply; To believe in yourself. You can make it happen. You can do anything you put your heart and mind to.

QUESTION – What good & bad advice do you hear often in trading?

MICHELLE :  Good: Cut your losses short and quick.( still working on this but getting way better, I will master it!)
Do not average  down. Have rules. Follow them. write a trading plan. revise your trades, learn from them the bad and the ugly also has something to teach you.
Not so Good:  Trading is easy and education is key.  (Yes without  a doubt, education is key , no doubt but it also take dedication, consistency and it takes screen time. Not to forget a great mentor you look up to & that is available for you)

QUESTION – What are your favorite trading & non-trading books to read and why?

MICHELLE :
The 4- Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss. I enjoyed that book a lot and again made it clearly set in my mind what i want to work towards.
I have a very long list of books I have to and want to read in the near future ( Christmas  gifts made easy for my family this year)

QUESTION – When you have lost your mojo or focus (both in trading and life), what do you do to get back on track?

MICHELLE : I step back, take a breath and try to refocus on the positive in my life. Spend time with myself first, to clear what is going on and then spend time with my family and friends. Of course spending time with my horse also is very therapeutic  for me on so many levels. When I have a rough day, days, I try to mediate before sleeping and clear my stress levels so I have a better chance to start the next day with a clean slate.

It would be so fun and interesting  to do a follow up interview in a year! ha ha!

QUESTION  – If you could have a big billboard with your favorite saying or message on it, what would it be.

MICHELLE : Whether you think you can or you think you can’t you’re both right. Henry Ford
